What is an EV vs Gas Cost Calculator?

It puts two very different ways of buying energy on the same footing — dollars per mile. A gas car's cost per mile is the pump price divided by MPG; an EV's is its electricity use times your power rate. Seeing both as a per-mile number, and then as an annual total, makes the running-cost gap concrete.

The result depends heavily on local fuel and electricity prices, so plug in your own numbers rather than national averages. Remember this is the energy side only: it deliberately leaves out purchase price, maintenance, and incentives so you can judge fuel-versus-charging cleanly.

For the gas car it divides the pump price by MPG to get a cost per mile. For the EV it takes the consumption in kWh per 100 miles, divides by 100 to get kWh per mile, and multiplies by your electricity price. It then scales both up by your annual mileage and shows the yearly saving of whichever is cheaper.

What does this comparison leave out?
