The Bauma 2025 trade fair saw the unveiling of the all-new PC220LC-12 and PC220LCi-12 excavators from Komatsu. The new machines boast an impressive array of features, including intuitive ergonomics, extreme fuel efficiency, ultra-low emissions, effortless performance, and advanced digitalisation capabilities.
At the heart of the new excavators lies the powerful 129kW high torque Komatsu next generation engine, paired with an electronically controlled hydraulic system. This combination results in an 18% reduction in average fuel consumption, saving approximately 2.1 litres per hour compared to the previous model.
Benefits of the New Hydraulic System | Comparison to the Previous Model |
---|---|
18% increase in arm and bucket forces | Significant improvement in digging and material movement capabilities |
Increased fuel efficiency | A 7% gain in fuel efficiency compared to the previous model |
The new P+ mode brings an 18% increase in productivity and a 20% gain in fuel efficiency. This new mode allows operators to work more efficiently, with fewer breaks and increased output.
One of the most significant design improvements is the larger cab, which provides 30% more legroom and a new premium seat option. The cab also features overhead cooling vents, joystick steering as standard, and numerous storage spaces, all designed to enhance the operator’s working environment.
- A 50% increase in lower right-hand side visibility
- Joystick steering as standard
- Numerous storage spaces
The new excavators also boast advanced operator assist technology. A high-definition eight-inch touch-panel monitor provides intuitive control and easy information access, while programmable super-ergonomic electronic control levers and customisable hydraulic settings allow operators to tailor the machine to their specific needs.
“The operator ID system, which stores up to 50 profiles, allows operators to be recognised via electronic key or typed ID, and their personalised settings automatically loaded. This ensures a seamless and efficient working experience for operators.
The PC220LC-12 comes with advanced operator assist technology, including an integrated payload meter, integrated 2D machine control designed for simple depth and slope grading, and 2D virtual safety wall. These features are designed to improve the operator’s working environment and reduce errors.
The PC220LCi-12, on the other hand, features next generation iMC 3.0 intelligent machine control. This advanced technology includes features such as 3D boundary control and automated steer-to-line, which advance towards autonomous operation. The iMC 3.0 system also introduces auto swing, enabling semiautomatic truck loading, and swing-to-line and travel-along-line functionalities simplify trenching operations.
The PC220LCi-12 also comes with Smart Construction Remote, which allows customers to transfer design files remotely and troubleshoot by taking over the screen, eliminating site visits.
The PC220LCi-12 has an advanced payload meter, optimising loads and preventing overloading. This feature is also available via a factory-made upgrade for PC220LC-12 owners.
With the PC220LC-12 and PC220LCi-12, Komatsu has once again demonstrated its commitment to creating value for customers.
